Demand for IT jobs increased in July

10 August 2011
The latest report of the UK recruitment industry, conducted by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG shows IT Jobs were among the most in-demand workers in July.

There was a significant increase in the number of people hired in roles in July compared to June's lows.

However, demand for staff is still at its slowest pace in eight months, even though there are more candidates available. The supply of permanent IT staff increased at the highest rate for 18 months.

"These figures show that the jobs market is continuing to perform well despite general weakness in the UK economy," commented chief executive of the REC, Kevin Green.

"We have now had two years of continuous growth and employers are still continuing to hire staff, although not in the numbers needed to radically reduce unemployment."

He stated that employment is now 1% off its pre-recession peak.
