According to a study by e-skills UK, IT Candidate shortages are affecting the  IT jobs market in the UK. This is primarily due to an increasing demand for professionals to work in the IT industry mixed with a decrease of skilled candidates to fill vacant IT positions.
From January to March 2010, the report announced that the available number of those vacant IT positions is showing a growth and recruiters are more and more competing for the right profiles to place IT jobs in the UK.

The publication also mentions a rise in terms of advertised vacancies during the same period, totalling 85 000 posts. IT skill shortages are more noticeable for analysts and developers, as well as skills related to Microsoft .NETSQL and Sybase.

It has equally been a positive trend (9%) in regards to pay rates for the first quarter 2010 for both IT permanent and IT contract roles.
These factors have contributed to a remarkable 4.4% drop in the number of IT professionals out of work in the UK
