Men lose and find jobs quicker than women

11 October 2010
A new survey from the Office for National Statistics has revealed that men are more likely to lose theirĀ jobs but also to find a new one more rapidly than women.
The survey conducted quarterly, has polled 60.000 UK households. The latest figure have been published and it appears that male working population are 3.2% more likely to be unemployed than the female working population. However, they generally experience shorter unemployment phases before finding their next role.
The results also show that the longer the period of unemployment lasts, the harder it becomes to be successful in finding a new job. The population who have been unemployed between 7 and 12 months seem to have more difficulties (17.7%) to find new jobs than the population who have been unemployed for less than 6 months.Age, ethnicity, public or housing association tenancy...are also factors that have be shown to have an influence on how easy or difficult it could be to find new jobs.
