According to the latest version of CIPD/KPMG Labour Market Outlook survey, companies in the UK are facing some struggle with the recruitment of skilled profiles. The survey was administrated to 600 in house recruitment specialists and about 45% have admitted to struggle in filling an array of roles in the fields of engineering, IT, accountancy and finance. The report also mentions the recruitment of migrant workers as primarily explaining this trend; 21% of employers surveyed stipulated they hired foreign workers lately, whilst 17% said they intended to recruit such workers over the last quarter 2010. "The study highlights the complex juggling act the government now faces," said Gerwyn Davies, the CIPD's public policy adviser. "The proposed introduction of a migration cap comes at a time when many employers are still struggling to fill skilled vacancies, despite the high unemployment rate." Gerwyn Davies also mentioned that it will be neither easy nor quick to train local or British workers to fill those skilled vacancies currently occupied by migrant workers.
