Talk Talk plans 580 redundancies

28 January 2011
TalkTalk has just announced a large restructure of the business that will inevitably lead to redundancies, 580 in total.

The telecom company said the development of a larger network needs the integration of its technology teams, resulting in jobs reduction.

With 5 years of consecutive growth, the success of the company is undeniable, starting with the free broadband in 2006 and followed by the acquisitions of AOL Broadband and Tiscali UK. This meaning that TalkTalk has effectively expanded as 3 separate organisations, supported by a network division, each with its own IT, Human Resources and finance function.
This has formed a certain level of duplication that needs to be addressed by consolidating central services with all IT services being housed within the technology team.
