Valued added services are the future for recruitment, ASPCo delegates told

04 November 2010
During the latest APSCo Sales Conference 2010 held in October, it has been underlined that in the current economic climate, a recruitment agency or in our case an IT recruitment agency must offer value-added recruitment services such as HR and staffing consultancies to keep a competitive advantage.

Anthony Hilton, the financial editor of the Evening Standard called for recruiters to "move up the value chain.'' As reported by HR magazine.
Hilton also said that by adopting a consultancy based business attitude rather than sales, recruitment consultants can turn the wealth of knowledge at their disposal into a value-added service to their core staffing functions.

As an example, Hilton pointed towards restructuring. Often companies that are undergoing significant or even partial structural change will encounter complex staffing issues, such as the need to fill positions left vacant by staff removed during the restructuring process. He says that the recruitment sector is ideally placed to offer expert advice in this kind of situation - and to provide services to help employers reduce the effect of these issues on productivity.

Interviewed by HR Magazine, Ann Swain, the chief executive of APSCo said that Anthony Hilton, had been chosen to "provide a fresh outlook on the industry'' as someone who is completely outside of the recruitment industry. She also added that "More than ever, organisations will be looking for value for money and recruiters who don't evolve face extinction."
