Frits Goldschmeding

Frits GoldschmedingBack in 1960, the world of Randstad was no more than one old bicycle, two student rooms and 500Dutch guilders. But Frits Goldschmeding, the founder, has big plans.

Flexible work was still a little-known phenomenon at that time, but Goldschmeding saw the flexibility could potentially play a much larger role in the labor market.
It was a role that would benefit all parties concerned. Flexible working relations would allow employers to arrange staffing quickly, easily and in line with the economy, whereas employees could change jobs quickly, while gaining expertise and achieving personal growth as a result.

The company was inspired by the goal of achieving flexibility for the labour market. Within 50 years, the thousands of Randstad entrepreneurs, the staffing consultants, together with their colleagues had realised the dream, not only for themselves, but for the clients, the candidates and for society itself.

This is a story about entrepreneurship, dedication and job satisfaction. It is a story that links the first perfect match in 1960 with the company’s mission in 2010: Shaping the world of work.
