Voluntary Service Overseas
"VSO is a model part of what we have come to know as civil society."
Kofi Annan - former Secretary-General of the United Nations
VSO – Voluntary Service Overseas - is the world’s largest independent volunteering agency in the world that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries.
VSO doesn’t send food or money. Instead a "people to people" approach is taken. VSO brings people together to share skills and expertise to build a fairer world.
"Randstad’s support of VSO shows we’re not only committed to being an HR specialist, but that we also use our core competence to make a tangible difference to the world’s poor. Our ultimate goal of helping VSO to send out many hundreds of additional volunteers will improve conditions for many thousands of people. We are excited by this opportunity to build a relationship and hope that many Randstad’employees will volunteer themselves."
Ben Noteboom - CEO
Established in 1958, VSO has sent over 43,000 volunteers to work in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Pacific and Latin America in response to requests from governments and community organizations.
As a Randstad employee you have the opportunity to volunteer for a short-term professional assignment in a developing country. VSO standard placements are for two years, but thanks to our partnership you have the opportunity to work for shorter missions on strategic projects overseas. For these projects we are looking for candidates with strong skills, preferably in but not limited to, one of the following areas: management, business, marketing & communication, finance, education,
healthcare, HR and/or IT.
Together VSO & Randstad are in a position to combat disadvantage and poverty more effectively than they could by working alone.
